Little Italy, as its name suggests, is known for its Italian Canadian restaurants and businesses. Central to the area, and featured in this design, are the restaurants, bars, and shops along College Street. Italians arrived in Toronto in large numbers during the early 20th century. Many settled in this area, then known as The Ward.

The side streets are lined with Edwardian homes dating back to the early-1900s. The Italian Walk of Fame, with its granite and brass stars, recognizes noteworthy Italian Canadians. Many television and film productions have been filmed in the neighbourhood, including: Chloe, Police Academy, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, The F Word, The Long Kiss Goodnight, and the romantic comedy 'Little Italy'
