Holbein gouache pigments have been chosen for exceptional saturation and the ability to mix freely without loss of brilliance, opacity or hue value in combination with other colours. These gouache colours are more finely ground than other competing products, and no whitening agents are added to Holbein Gouache to increase opacity.

In developing the Artist’s own colour shades, the colour selection will always give consistent, reliable results without darkening or muddiness.

Capable of being mixed comparably with Holbein transparent watercolours, acrylic colours, or acrylic ink diluted for airbrush use, Holbein Gouache is a truly professional colour product which will meet the requirements of the most demanding artist while, at the same time, offering those characteristics which make it an outstanding medium for the teaching of colour theory.

The colours will not bleed or crack and offer absolute opacity when laid one over the other. The mat surface will be fragile, however, and scratching or rubbing should be avoided. A fixative or mat varnish will enhance surface strength but not without loss of opacity, which may change surface colour by increasing transparency. This may alter reproduction qualities of artwork to be photographed. If mediums are applied, care should be taken to ensure a very thin coating only.
